Intercultural Programs and Special Projects

Educational programs

In line with the approach of conceiving and presenting museums as ‘hypertexts’, the following intercultural proposals aim to promote integration, exchange and interpersonal communication. The immense artistic and cultural heritage of the Venetian Civic Museums provides an extraordinary and immediately accessible resource for learning Italian as a second language (L2), while fostering cultural exchange.

Activities

In all the Venetian Civic Museums
An intercultural workshop on active citizenship, spread over several sessions, aimed at fostering dialogue and exchange between people from different cultures. The project transforms museum spaces into places of renewal and social cohesion, where artistic discovery becomes a tool for active citizenship. Through a programme that includes a welcome session, focus groups, creative and expressive activities and action-research workshops, participants are invited to reimagine a work of art in their own way, weaving their own life story into that of the artwork. The experience, aimed at adults attending Italian language courses (at secondary-school level), is characterised by an emphasis on inclusion and the celebration of diversity as a resource, enabling participants to share and discover new worlds.
In collaboration with the City of Venice’s Servizio Pronto Intervento Sociale, Inclusione e Mediazione (Social Emergency Response, Inclusion and Mediation Service).
Target: lower and upper secondary schools
Duration: 2h per session

The workshop, which takes place over several sessions, aims to provide practical support to participants, particularly those whose first language is not Italian, who are in their final year of lower secondary school and are preparing for their state examination. Through experiential activities, guided conversations at the museum and oral and written exercises at the After-School Centre in Via Dante, Mestre, participants can develop their communication and interpersonal skills, acquire new historical and artistic knowledge of Venice’s cultural heritage, and enhance their expressive and creative abilities.
In collaboration with the City of Venice’s Servizio Pronto Intervento Sociale, Inclusione e Mediazione (Social Emergency Response, Inclusion and Mediation Service).
Target: lower secondary schools
Duration: 2h per session
