Part of the collection acquired in 1981 from the former International Centre for Arts and Costume, the fashion plates in the Palazzo Mocenigo Library provide an ample visual record of European fashions in the nineteenth and twentieth century.
The detail of the illustrations is of high technical quality because most of these plates were produced for those who wished to adapt their wardrobe to the latest fashions.
Divided chronologically and according to type, these works are not only of great artistic interest in their own right but also provide an ample record of children’s clothing and of day and evening fashions and accessories for men and women.
