Palazzo Mocenigo

Language learning within the museum

Museums can also be a place where teaching based upon the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology promoted by the European Union can be used to improve one’s knowledge of a foreign language.

Not to be confused with the various activities made available to the host of visitors to the city and its museum, this is designed as a teaching activity focused specifically upon the learning of a foreign language. As well as existing in a form intended for Italian students aiming to improve their English or French, Language Learning in the Museum can also take the form of visits that introduce Italian language and culture to students who have not been here for long.

Museums, in fact, are the perfect place for such activities, with language-learning being able to exploit the extraordinary immediacy of the ‘language’ of visual images or the sort of interactive layout one finds, for example, in the city’s Natural History Museum.

The visits are adapted to specific needs and can be designed for groups of children of different backgrounds and ages.
